The coordination of technology development for complex products and systems innovations

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore earlier stages complex products and systems (CoPS) innovations, investigating how technology development can be coordinated. Design/methodology/approach This uses a case study methodology, adopting an abductive logic, characterized by nonlinear iterative process systematic confrontations between theoretical framework, empirical fieldwork analysis. Specifically, the authors Swedish aerospace network, which distinctly represents CoPS characteristics intense with long-term goals project-based activities universities, research institutes, small medium enterprises leading firms. Findings By adding network perspective in literature, found that coordinated within technological business dimensions according different strategic nets. Also, nets co-evolve when their related projects are connected advance maturity, actors change position.
